Compact Fans
Compact fans are small Axial fans. They move air axially from the inlet side through to the outlet side of the fans. The individual blades of the fan operate in a similar manner to that of a wing of a plane. As the blade moves through the air negative pressure on top of the blade sucks air in and positive pressure under the blade pushes the air out. Compact fans are sometimes referred to as Tube Axial Fans.
ebm make compact fans from as small as 25 mm diameter up to 250 mm diameter. Above this size, fans are classified as Axial fans.
Axial fans move air axially from the inlet side through to the outlet side of the fans. The individual blades of the fan operate in a similar manner to that of a wing of a plane. As the blade moves through the air negative pressure on top of the blade sucks air in and positive pressure under the blade pushes the air out. The air exits the fan with a spiral swirl.
Axial fans are available in all shapes and sizes from 25 mm up to 1.2 m diameter. Below 200 mm diameter axial fans are called compact fans.
ebm have an extensive range of single inlet and double inlet forward curved centrifugal blowers of varying sizes and construction to give a large choice of products.
b. Backward Curved Centrifugal Fans
These types of fans are available in with or without scroll housing around the fan. Backward curved centrifugal fans have fewer blades than a forward curved and the blades are inclined and curved backwards with respect to the rotation of the impeller.
Mixed flow fans combine the good features of Axial and Centrifugal Fans by employing the air movement techniques of both. Air enters the inlet side of the fans and exhausts in an axial route from the outlet side.
Whereas the centrifugal fan has an exit path at 90° from the inlet and the Axial fan has an exit path 180° from the inlet, the mixed flow lies between these two.
ebm manufacture mixed flows from 120 mm diameter through to 560 mm diameter with AC and DC motors.
Also referred to as tangential fans. Both names try to describe the operation of the fan. Air is moved by the impeller creating a vortex inside the impeller wheel and along its impeller length, off set from its axis. This vortex pulls air into the impeller and throws it out approximately on the opposite side, hence the name cross flow.
ebm have a large range from 30 mm diameter through to 120 mm diameter, from 120 mm wide through to 1,200 mm wide.
Typically single inlet centrifugal fans either in forward curved or radial design. These fans were originally designed for use on domestic gas boilers and therefore fall into two distinct categories:
Fans for use on the hot exhaust side of the burner.
They are normally forward curved blowers with simple shaded pole AC motors.
Fans used on the cold inlet side of the burner. They are accurately speed controlled and normally used to pre-mix the gas and air.
Either a DC or EC motor drives them.
The range of fans has now increased to sizes for commercial boilers.
Designed with the commercial, industrial, retail and leisure markets in mind, the ManCooler 500, it is available in both 230 and 110 VAC versions. Available from stock, the ManCooler 500 provides a simple, stylish and cost effective method for maintaining a pleasant temperature.
These fans are sometimes called Spot Coolers, they are built to cool Gyms, Warehouses etc. They are also perfect as a Garden Fan. So stay cool this summer with the ManCooler 500!
