FAQS - Fans
- The fan appears to be under performing by approximately 50% - what is the likely cause of this?
Contrary to many beliefs, a centrifugal fan, even when the impeller is going the wrong way, will continue to pull air into the inlet and expel air through the discharge port. However, the performance will only be 2/5ths of the normal duty in flow and/or pressure. If you find the rotation going the wrong way, correct the wiring so that the fan rotates in the correct direction. - What type of fan units do you manufacture and supply?
ACI manufacture an extensive range of small to medium range of centrifugal fans (including curved forward and backward curved bladed units) and a range of low to high pressure radial bladed and axial fans types. - What is meant by ducting losses?
All ducting, bends, and louvres etc. will have an effect on the air passing through that system. This will nearly always take the form of a restriction to the
flow and consequent pressure requirement. At the earliest stage in the design process ducting should be carefully evaluated and made as efficient as
possible. Points to consider therefore are as follows:- The ducting should be as large a cross section as practicable
- The total length should be kept as short as possible
- The number of bends kept to a minimum and should have as large a bend radius as possible
- Sudden expansion or contractions should be avoided. Smooth blended taper pieces should be used to make transitional sections.
- What are the maximum air volumes your fans can convey?
ACI has a standard range with capacities up to 51,000 m3/hr (30,000 CFM) - What is the maximum pressure your fans can produce?
pressures up to 300Mbar (120 in. SWG) - What materials are your fans manufactured from?
Our fans are manufactured from the highest quality aluminium and stainless steels. - Where are your fans manufactured?
All our fans are manufactured in our manufacturing facility in Axminster, Devon. - What industries do you supply?
Food and Beverage, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Offshore, Power Generation, Incineration, Recycling, Paper, Steel ... and many more. - Can you provide spares?
At ACI can provide all spares for any of our fans purchased in the last forty plus years. - Can you replace other manufacturer's fans?
Yes, if we are given the correct performance parameters we can probably offer a more efficient, longer-lasting, tailor made unit. Please call your nearest office all ACI Distributor. - What is the best way of speed controlling your fans?
This can be done by a couple of different methods. 1. By controlling the resistance and flow with a flow control valve, or 2. using a frequency inverter. At ACI we can provide both. The Inverters we supply are designed and matched for our fans, we have very good relations with our Inverter manufacturers allowing us to offer very competitive prices. - What does dwell time mean?
This is the time it takes for Carbon Filters to work effectively. Air passing through the filter needs to be evenly distributed across the filter and be
exposed to the carbon for a specified period of time. - Are you able to provide ducting and acoustic controls for your fans?
Yes, we are able to offer a number of different solutions for accoustic control. Additionally ACI are able to supply both rigid and flexible ducting solutions. - Can I download data sheets, dxfs or 3D images of your fan models?
The website has for many years enabled visitors to download pdf and dxf files of its entire product range. 3D files for products will be available shortly..
