Higher throughput and greater operating efficiencies at AB Inbev

The Problem

AB Inbev’s Magor Plant in South Wales fills more than ½ a million bottles of Stella Artois every day. Beer is flash pasteurised and cold filled into bottles so they are dripping with condensation by the time they reach the labeller.  They needed an efficient drying system but also were focussed on keeping hygiene standards to an acceptable level as water blow-off and yeast from beer residue had caused problems previously.

Line Requirements:

Throughput Speeds: 60,000bph
Glass Bottle sizes: 25 & 33cl

The Solution

Installation of a fully enclosed drying system was ordered by KHS who were the turnkey suppliers for the complete bottling line.  This was fitted with ACI Jetplates and a cap dryer for complete bottle drying.  This configuration dries the bottles at high speeds in preparation for the three labels that are applied (front, back, and neck) to the Stella Artois bottles.

The Outcome

The ACI Drying System on the line was the first to beer filling line to be supplied with ACI Jetplates.  Since its installation it has achieved the objectives set for it, and thus keeping the numbers of rejected bottles due to poorly placed labels very low.

Solutions For Packaging & Labelling

Our range of bottle and can drying systems helps to ensure that today’s ground breaking labelling and packaging technology is not compromised by any surface water used in the packaging process.
