SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER

If a customer needs to move air, ACI can help, and upholding and improving Quality is central to delivering the very best possible solution. The Senior Quality Engineer will work across departments to promote quality awareness and compliance, ensuring that our statutory requirements are met.

The key tasks of this job will be:

Projects at ACI are varied and interesting – no two days are the same as we look to be innovative in solving our customer’s industrial air movement problems. Indeed, we already have a broad and extensive portfolio across industrial fans and blowers, air knife drying systems, and personnel cleaning equipment. Our emphasis on providing a high-quality framework in which we design our products means that you will have the opportunity to work on interesting and varied projects as well as be involved day to day with our Production team.

You will be the driving force behind our Quality Management System and its standards, upholding ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 80079-34. You will lead on auditing and reporting our progress and standards against the QMS and ensure that all activities and improvements adhere to our QMS principles and processes. Your strong ethic and capabilities around continuous improvement and understanding of engineering processes and methodologies such as Lean and 5S will mean you will work collaboratively and consultatively to bring people with you as you look to enhance our total Quality agenda, looking to put our customers at the heart of what we do.

By promoting and championing our customer ethic you will work with our Sales team on customer issues, complaints and non-conformances, working with other departments where required, to manage these issues to the best outcome for the customer and for ACI.

An ability to work with colleagues and communicate at all levels, internally and externally, verbal and written will be essential. You will also champion and promote our important environmental policies and awareness throughout the Company, ensuring that we always deal with every aspect of our business in a sustainable manner. Carrying out internal audits and process checks with Managers will also be key, so the ability to step back and be independent will be important to fulfil the role correctly, as well as the ability to spot and identify training needs.

Key Attributes:

  • 3 -5 years + Quality Engineering experience minimum, within engineered industrial products
  • A technical background would be a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of EX blowers and their manufacture under ISO 80079-34 would be very desirable
  • Qualified to audit ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and the implementation of these standards
  • Lean manufacturing advantageous as well as 5S methodology beneficial
  • Knowledgeable of health and safety and implementing safe methods of work
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ideas driven and sees problems as opportunities for improvement
  • Project management capability would be a bonus
  • Time management and organisational skills expected as you need to be able to prioritise
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, builds strong relationships at all levels
  • Resilient and prepared to take tough decisions
  • Happy to get stuck in
  • Highly proficient at all Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and spoken English

3D Machinery Design Engineer

We are Air Control Industries – At the forefront of air movement technology.

We’re looking for a 3D Machinery Design Engineer to join our established and experienced design team based in Axminster. You will be involved in the 3D design and specification of an extensive portfolio of industrial fans, drying systems, personnel cleaning equipment, & machinery. The role will require you to work on interesting and varied projects by applying an engineering problem-solving skillset and flair for great design.

The Role:

The Engineering team work closely and collaboratively with the Sales and Production departments to design new and modify existing products when needed. You’ll be adept and experienced in using 3D CAD to design and validate new machinery products to customer requirements.

Occasionally, you may be required to travel nationally or overseas to gather further information relevant to drawing/design activities and to provide the standard of service and expertise our customers expect.

In the immediate circumstances with the Coronavirus pandemic, you will be required to work part-time from home after your induction is completed, but when Covid restrictions are lifted the role is based full time at our Axminster site.

Key Attributes:
• 5 years + Engineering experience minimum, ideally in 3D machinery design
• A qualification in Engineering is preferred, but professional manufacturing engineering experience will also be considered.
• Knowledge and experience of machinery design is highly desirable
• A knowledge of electrics or electrical cable runs within machinery would be very beneficial, but not essential.
• Time management and organisational skills expected as you need to be able to prioritise.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, builds strong relationships at all levels.
• Experience working on complete projects from the test, design & manufacturing stages
• Proficient using Inventor/AutoCAD as well as Microsoft Office packages.
• Excellent written and spoken English with a keen eye for detail.
