Running Strong:
ACI Team’s 5K Muddy Run
A friendly competition between two departments regarding participation in a charity race quickly evolved into a company-wide team-building event that united our employees for an important cause. Eight adventurous souls, namely Matthew Shelley, Dexter Neesam, Dan Anjos, Zoe Williams, Mark Rose, Ollie Horrell, Ivan Henry, and Florence Vaughan-France, joined forced to tackle on the Pretty Muddy 5K obstacle course, raising an impressive £1,250 for Cancer Research UK.
The Pretty Muddy obstacle run provided an ideal platform for the team to showcase their collaboration, perseverance, and commitment to positively impacting the community.
The ACI Team were getting Muddy
The team navigated mud pits, towering walls, and slippery slopes, supporting each other with wit and determination. “It was so much fun; we will be signing up again next year!” said Zoe Williams, who was inspired to participate because cancer has impacted her family.
As the ACI team conquered each challenge, they did so with laughter and a sense of fun. The event was a physical trial and an opportunity for colleagues to bond and share experiences. Ivan Henry summed up the experience: “It was a great day out. We had so much fun raising money for such a good cause. I really enjoyed being a part of it.”
Beyond funds raised, the team building exercise of training together and conquering obstacles side-by-side brought our staff closer. It created lasting memories and inside jokes that have carried back to the office, strengthening relationships between colleagues. This camaraderie reflects ACI’s communal spirit and commitment to enriching our community. We’re already discussing how to expand our team for next year’s race.
“Following a challenge between Sales and Marketing about running in an event, we put our rivalries behind us and set about raising money for Cancer Research UK by running a “Pretty Muddy Run” in Bristol.”
