We have just returned from what we would consider to be our best Hillhead event yet! It was only our second year exhibiting, but already we are building on the success of our first show back in 2016. It was great to see familiar faces returning from the previous year, and to also have the opportunity to introduce so many new people to our range of personnel cleaning products.

Hillhead is the World’s largest exhibition of its kind for the quarrying, construction and recycling industries. The biennial 3-day show is held at Hillhead Quarry, a unique location in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside. The limestone quarry is perfect for an event like this, with over 500 exhibitors from around the world providing working demonstrations & static displays of their products. This year’s event was the biggest to date, with a record breaking 19,687 unique visitors descending on the quarry in the gloriously hot weather.

Hillhead 2018 also featured a special appearance from The Man Engine, Britain’s largest mechanical puppet. Powered by a Volvo L220 wheel loader, and recently voted the UK’s Best Arts Project, the 10m high ‘miner’ provided a spectacular focal point for the event.

Exhibition director Richard Bradbury said: ‘With clear blue skies, record crowds and all the majors from the plant and equipment world in attendance, business was buoyant and the atmosphere amongst the exhibitors and visitors was superb! Another highlight of this year’s show was the Man Engine, which proved to be a real crowd-puller.’

During the exhibition we were showcasing our JetBlack Safety Personnel Cleaning Booths for full body dust removal and collection. The product has become an essential tool for any construction sites where employees need to remove dust efficiently and effectively from their work clothing. By using blower-driven air as opposed to compressed air means that anyone using a JetBlack product can do so in the knowledge that it is safer and more efficient to use.

Matt Shelley, our Business Development manager, was responsible for out attendance at the show and he said: “It was great to have to opportunity to meet so many people within the industry and discuss their site issues around personnel clean down. Through demonstrating both our JetBlack range and Personnel Cleaning Booths we were able to show them an alternative solution to compressed air that would solve their dust removal issues. We also had a lot of positive feedback on our new ‘hands-free’ personnel cleaning booth that we launched at the event so that was especially great to hear.”

We would like to thank everyone who visited us during the event and showed an interest in our personnel cleaning products. We are already looking forward to attending the event again in 2020 – and we hope to see you all there!
