THE ACI APPROACH: ENGINEERING CUSTOM Fan Solutions
Engineering airflow solutions for complex site challenges.
In today’s fast-moving industrial environments, airflow requirements are rarely standard.
Equipment footprints are shrinking, hygiene and safety standards are rising, and energy efficiency is under constant scrutiny. These aren’t just technical hurdles — they’re operational realities.
At ACI, we believe that addressing these challenges requires more than just a product — it requires a partner with the engineering expertise to solve problems. That’s why, for us, customization isn’t a premium extra. It’s standard practice.
What Custom Means at ACI — A Tiered Approach
Virtually every industrial fan we manufacture involves some form of customization. Whether it’s adapting the configuration, changing materials, or modifying performance specifications, these adjustments are part of our everyday production process — and we apply them just as readily to small orders as we do to large contracts.
We classify our custom fans into three levels:
Configured: standard fans enhanced with external components like brackets, pedestals, or duct spigots.

Customized: fans built from standard models but upgraded with different materials or technical modifications to meet tougher conditions.

Fully bespoke: one-off designs engineered from scratch to meet exact specifications when no standard solution will do.
With over 50 years of experience in fan design and manufacture, we know how to apply proven engineering principles to modern-day production challenges, whether that means selecting the right materials, delivering precise airflow, or meeting hygiene and safety regulations.
As a trusted industrial fan manufacturer, we specialize in tailoring airflow solutions that meet the demands of diverse applications and industries.

Process: From Problem to Performance
As a manufacturer with decades of engineering heritage, we’ve developed a flexible, collaborative approach to solving airflow problems.
DISCOVERY
We start with a conversation to understand your operational requirements and uncover the real challenge behind your specification.
DESIGN
Our engineers develop the right solution — whether that’s a material upgrade, a simple bracket change, or a bespoke fan layout.
TESTING & VALIDATION
Custom fans are tested on in-house rigs to confirm airflow and pressure under real-world conditions.
DELIVERY & SUPPORT
Once approved, we handle full production, traceability, documentation, and ongoing post-delivery support.
This collaborative approach ensures you receive a high-performance, install-ready fan that fits your application perfectly, even if you only need one unit.
Process: Real-World Applications: From Site Constraints to One-Off Engineering

Challenge: A good example of our approach came from a customer who needed a high-pressure centrifugal fan for a tight production space. Off-the-shelf models from several suppliers were too large, and redesigning the line was not an option.
Solution: We delivered a fan that technically and physically fit by adapting one of our standard units with a left-handed orientation, a custom pedestal, and tailored duct spigots.
Challenge: Another case involved an OEM needing corrosion-resistant stainless-steel fans, but in quantities far below what most manufacturers would typically handle.
Solution: We met their specifications, ran full validation testing, and delivered a product that matched their environmental, performance, and documentation requirements.
These kinds of projects are what define us. They’re not just about making a fan work but about making it work for you.
How ACI Compares in a Crowded Market
Many fan manufacturers offer “custom builds,” but this often means choosing from a list of existing options rather than solving a problem from the ground up. At ACI, customization is an engineering collaboration, not just a configuration checklist.
Rather than asking what fan you want, we ask: what problem are we solving together?
Whether you’re working with space limitations, system retrofits, or strict performance standards, we’ll help engineer the right solution, and we do this whether you need 100 units or just one.
When Does a Custom Fan Make Sense?
While many standard fans are capable performers, some applications demand a more tailored solution. You might benefit from a custom or bespoke fan if:
- Your installation space is limited or unusually shaped
- You need to meet specific hygiene, noise, or safety regulations
- The operating environment involves corrosive, high-temperature, or explosive conditions.
- Existing systems need airflow or pressure adjustments beyond typical specifications
Working in a potentially explosive environment?
If you’re unsure whether a standard fan will suffice, it’s worth having the conversation early. It could save you significant time, rework, or inefficiency later on.

Why Custom Doesn’t Mean Costly?
“Custom doesn’t mean luxury – it means precision. And precision means savings.“
ACI Engineering Team
At ACI, customization is about solving the exact problem, not over-engineering a generic solution. That means smarter design, lower running costs, and a better long-term return on your investment.
- Less Installation: Fans arrive fit-for-purpose, reducing time, labour, and costly adjustments on site.
- No Over-Specification: We build to your real airflow needs, not inflated “just in case” specs that waste energy.
- Lower Maintenance: Correct materials and smarter designs extend component life and reduce downtime.
- Energy Savings That Add Up: Tailored performance means lower power usage across the fan’s lifetime.
