Greater efficiency and quieter operation for aseptic bottling line

The Problem

Handling PET bottles of Ribena, Hydro Active and Lucozade Sport at line speeds ranging from 300-600 bottles/min, Glaxosmithkline’s Coleford Plant had been using a simple configuration of air knives.  However, they were failing to dry properly, mainly due to the difficulty in ensuring correct setup for different bottle types and following cleaning/maintenance, noise and containment of moisture.

Line Requirements:

Throughput Speeds: 36,000bph
PET Bottle sizes:  330 & 500ml

The Solution

A fully enclosed LNL Drying System, fitted with Jetplates has been installed. Unlike standard air knives, ACI’s JetPlate requires no adjustment after installation. What’s more, the air flow is designed to ensure water and spray is driven downwards to prevent possible product re-contamination.

The Outcome

“The ACI JetPlate bottle drying system has improved the bottle drying significantly, providing consistent results which benefits the down-line operations of label application and product coding.”  Andrew Markey, Product Stream Support Engineer.
